Skincare Haul: Skincare for Oily Skin Series

skincare for oily skin

Hey guys! I wanted to come on and do a skincare haul talking about some of my recent purchases and repurchases.  I have really been passionate about taking better care of my skin recently, especially since I had some breakouts, and so I wanted to take you all along on my journey.  I got a misx of things, from cleanser, to toner to masks, and I feel like I will be able to build a really strong regimen with this.  I will definitely follow up with a skincare routine once I have had a chance to “spend time” with these products.  Definitely comment any requests, watch the video and share your own favorites!  Enjoy 🙂

Purple Holiday Makeup: Holiday Glam for a Night Out

purple holiday makeup

Hey guys! I wanted to come and show you a makeup look I have been loving recently! It is using my customized palette of Coastal Scents Hot Pots.  I put it together recently and I have to say that I really enjoy it!  The shadows are so buttery and pigmented, and it is gorgeous.  It reminds me of the Jaclyn Hill palette a little bit, but it definitely has my own twist on it.  I think this look will be perfect for Holiday parties, or just a night out this season, and my favorite part about it is that it’s different than your classic Holiday look.

Be sure to check out the video below! Hope you enjoy 🙂

Super effective skin smoother, gentle enough for a baby’s bottom

Fun fact: I hate oatmeal. The smell of oatmeal cooking on the stove literally makes me want to vom. That being said, I did eat tons of it as a baby (probably why I can’t stand it now) and it truly is an all purpose beauty product. This quick and easy DIY skin smoother will leave you with baby soft skin, just in time for harsh winter weather.

Oats Heap

What You’ll Need

1 cup Oatmeal, ground

1 cup Powdered Milk

Pure water

Dry Mixture

You may want to create a dry mixture you can store, so that you can pull it out at anytime to mix by batch. This is a really great way to work a new DIY product into your regimen! That’s because it’ll be quick, easy, and accessible whenever you need to use it. Start by using the ground oatmeal and powdered milk, but do not add the water yet. You can mix the items together in a small tupperware bowl using a spoon or whisk, or you can shake all the ingredients together in a plastic bag. I prefer the bowl method because it’s much easier to store that way, and it keeps your mixture super fresh! You can store this mixture for up to six months, and since they are dry products there is no refrigeration required.

Mix the Scrub

Combine 2 tbsp of your dry scrub mixture with about 1-2 teaspoons of water. You want to mix it in and work it up to a spreadable paste. Adjust the amount of water you want to use according to the consistency of your mixture, and allow it to sit for about a minute so that it can thicken.

How to Scrub

Apply it to your face with your fingers to your face and throat!

Happy scrubbing!

DIY Moisturizing Face Mask in the nick of time for dry skin season (aka Winter)

Moisturizing face mask

Your Moisturizing Face Mask never looked so yummy!

I have oily-combination skin, so winter is my season off (drying weather means less oil, and less oil means less work) but I know there are some ladies out there with dry skin. This one is for you! A couple months ago, I posted a DIY moisturizing hair mask for dry hair.  I can personally attest to its effectiveness because, interestingly, my hair happens to be as dry as my t-zone is oily!  I was thinking of how to apply the effectiveness of the banana hair mask to skin, and I think I have finally found a way.  Here’s the recipe…

What You’ll Need

Very ripe banana

Cup of cream, it can be light or heavy but I prefer heavy for the purpose of the mask

What to Do

Mash the banana and continually add cream until you get a thick, spreadable paste.  This can get runny, so make sure you prepare for that.  Put your hair up and wear a shirt you don’t mind getting dirty! I find that applying the mask with your fingers heats it up faster and can make it runnier.  If you have a fan brush or another similar applicator, try that!

Allow the mask to sit on your face for 20-30 minutes before rinsing off.  This mask does not dry or harden.

I hope you enjoyed this recipe for the best moisturizing face mask around!  Be sure to let me know if you want to see other DIY options.
