Ombre Lip Tutorial

ombre lip

Ombre lip colors and combinations have been all the rage for a while now.  They are the perfect way to introduce creativity and flair into your lipstick routine, and add a pop of color when you want some added drama! What I love most this lip is that it helps make any lip color more wearable on darker skin–by putting the lightest shade in the very center of the lips and keeping the rest of the lip darker, an ombre lip seamlessly blends the most dramatic colors while still making a statement.  Added bonus: ombre lip combos also help add volume and plump lips for a poutier look.

Thank you all so much for the positive feedback on my Black History Month video!  I got a bunch of questions about the brown ombre lip color that I was wearing in the video, so I decided to come on and do a quick video!  I used two liquid lipsticks and a brown lip liner to do this lip, so it is super simple especially since these colors are not rare.

Purple Holiday Makeup: Holiday Glam for a Night Out

purple holiday makeup

Hey guys! I wanted to come and show you a makeup look I have been loving recently! It is using my customized palette of Coastal Scents Hot Pots.  I put it together recently and I have to say that I really enjoy it!  The shadows are so buttery and pigmented, and it is gorgeous.  It reminds me of the Jaclyn Hill palette a little bit, but it definitely has my own twist on it.  I think this look will be perfect for Holiday parties, or just a night out this season, and my favorite part about it is that it’s different than your classic Holiday look.

Be sure to check out the video below! Hope you enjoy 🙂

Beyonce Mine Music Video

Gorgeous blues and teals make this a show stopping look for any season!

Please tell me you got the Beyonce album! At least saw some previews of the video? Photos?! Well if you are a makeup lover like I am, this album is definitely work checking out for some MAJOR inspiration.  There are tons of photos on google of looks from the album, and I have to say that the makeup is absolutely exquisite.  Beyonce is one of those artists who I feel takes the natural side of glam more often than not, but this time around she really does it up with some very edgy looks, taking more makeup risks in a single album than many will take in well…a lifetime.  She does everything from a barenaked face to this blue teal look.  From a fierce cateye fit for the runways, to a high glam 20s inspired gunmetal smokey eye paired with a glossy oxblood lip.  Needless to say I was in makeup inspo paradise watching the music videos from the Beyonce album.

Here is a still from the video that inspired my tutorial.  I was talking to my baby sis, she’s actually a teenager aha, and she was telling me that I should try to do tutorials with products that are more accessible.  So here it is! Thanks baby sis! I really wanted this look to be as easy to recreate as possible, so I searched and searched and found the perfect palette and I found it: The Maybelline “Sapphire Siren” palette.  It is sold in nearly any and every drugstore, and it is super affordable.  It is even cheaper if you get it from Walmart!  I hope you all enjoy this look, and feel free to comment down below with an other looks you would like to see from the Beyonce album.  I plan to do a lot more, so be sure to stay updated!

I have received some questions about how to alter this look for different skintones.  Using lighter shades works well to adapt the look, or using warmer colors could help as well.  I plan to do a similar look that will be more universal, so be sure to stay tuned for that!

Keke Palmer Inspired Makeup Look!

keke palmer makeup

So you guys know that the tag line for this blog is “Beautiful. Intelligent. Inspired,” but I hope you also know that it’s not for nothing.  It’s because that’s what I believe each and everyone one of us women have it in us to be all of those three things, and have a responsibility to share that with the world.  Keke Palmer is one such woman! She does work with the Cool to Be Smart program, speaking to kids about the importance of learning.  I grew up with the value of education deeply ingrained in me, so this is a message I really identify with.  I also believe it to be a message that gets drowned out a lot of the time in the whirlwind of hollywood, reality television, and tabloid media culture—but I digress.  Keke Palmer is also the Anti-Bullying spokesperson for the YWCA, lending her voice and influence to an organization committed to empowering young woman and girls around the globe.  She is the exclusive ambassador for the Saving Our Daughters Oath Project which encourages girls to take an oath against bullying.  Needless to say, the decision to do an Inspired Look on her was a no brainer.

Here’s to inspired women!  And here’s the makeup:
